22 days to go!
All my paperwork is in place and I've started packing up the house - all my winter clothes are packed away now, the winter over in Adelaide is very similar to over here at the moment but it's their winter. Think it could be rather hot!
I can't quite believe my adventure is almost upon me! I'm beginning to get a little excited now! Term is about to end so that gives me 3 weeks to pack up the rest of my things & sort out all those little jobs around the house. Bulk cleaning shop is in order!
I've spoken to my exchange partner via e-mail quite a lot, it's really good to be in contact with her as I'm sure she's feeling very similar to me. The feelings change from overwhelmed to excited to nervous, mainly excited now though :-)
I can't wait to live by the ocean.
This is the beach just down the road from where I'm going to be living! I really think I might be able to get used to it!
I really am looking forward to living by the beach, it's going to be amazing...the best thing I've ever done in my professional life!

Hi, how did you go about arranging the exchange? I am currently on a Primary PGCE course, with the hope of one day teaching in Australia! I have had previous experience of working in a school in Adelaide, and love every minute of my 12 months there! If you could give me any information or simply point me in the right direction, that would be greatly appreciated! :)

Hi Sam
ReplyDeleteApologies for the delay in replying to your post. My exchange was set up through theCommonwealth Youth Exchange Council (CYEC). They are based in London but are currently the only charity that organise exchanges as far as I know. I also believe that you have to have at least 5 years teaching experience behind you, and of course, a permenant position and supportive governing body. Good luck and let me know if you want any more information.
