Ahoy, Pirates!
Everyone in Adelaide seems to love to dress up for a party. We had a pirate party for a friend's birthday and even invited a 6' friend (centre) to come along. Great fun was had by all and, as you can see, everyone made a huge effort to dress up.

Fringe
The Adelaide Fringe is the biggest festival in the southern hemisphere. The normally sleepy city comes alive with people attending all sorts of weird and wonderful shows in and around the city,
During the opening ceremony, there is a parade, fireworks and discounted tickets to be had.
The Garden of Unearthly delights offers many weird and wonderful characters including penguins which can't be pleasant in 35 degree heat!

Port River Dolphin Cruise
A trip down Port River is a must whilst in South Australia. We went on the above boat for a 3 hour cruise which was a bargain at just $10. When we first got out into the river, there were the most jellyfish I had ever seen! Hundreds of them swimming past the boat. We saw pelicans, mangroves, cruise ships and of course dolphins. It was a wonderful way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Kangaroo
This was the view whilst driving home from a friend's house in the Adelaide Hills. It was taken whilst moving so apologies for the quality of the picture. Whilst we were driving down the winding roads, a rather large kangaroo hopped in front of the car, I wasn't quite quick enough to capture him but he certainly looked a little shocked.

Staff Fridge
I don't think I could let the 12 months pass by without adding a picture of the staff fridge. Staff are encouraged to join everyone in the staff room on a Friday after school for a drink, either soft or alcoholic. One week I turned up at around 4.45 and everyone else was pretty disgusted in the fact that I had been in my classroom
It does really how the different work ethic they have here, teachers are not expected to stay working until 5 or 6 pm on a Friday, they are expected to relax and begin the weekend!

Brighton Swim
On the first Sunday of February, there is an open swim down at Brighton. This consists of hundreds of swimmers competing in a sea swim. There were also sculptures (all linked with the sea), music, and stalls selling all sorts of things. It was a lovely day to spend down at the beach and well worth attending.
