Australia Day take 2!

As Australia Day fell on a Saturday this year, there was a public holiday the following Monday - so what better way to spend the day than having another BBQ!  The weather was warm but a bit showery - very much like an English bank holiday!  As you can see, everyone goes to town with the decorations and dresses up with enthusiasm.

Adelaide Hills

There are some beautiful wineries in the Adelaide Hills.  This festival included many wineries, the one pictured here, Nepenthe, has some beautiful wines and gorgeous views.
There was music, dancing, food and so much going on over this weekend - so enjoyable!

Australia Day

Australia Day is on 26th January and is considered a public holiday.  Australians take the celebration very seriously - there are even biscuits made in the shape of Oz!

As you can see, even the animals get into the spirit of the celebrations.  A BBQ is the obvious way to mark the occasion.   The moon even came out at around 5pm to show its support!
One of the items on my bingo is to play the didgeridoo which, as you can see, I did.  Although, there're technically only meant to be played by males so I do feel very special!

Chooks!

Meet my friend's chooks.  They lay the most delicious eggs!  The bantam ones lay the really small ones and have feathers everywhere including over their eyes and on their feet!

Houseboat on the Murray!

Something that must be done whilst living in Adelaide is to spend a long weekend on the River Murray.  It was such a relaxing time with a great group of people.

We saw heaps of wildlife including ducks, pelicans and vultures.

We even met the local bunyip - a very scary mythical creature!

Balls!

There has been huge media coverage of the balls in the city being moved with lots of controversy attached.  Weirdly whilst all the fuss has been happening about moving the balls, the sculpture designer died.  All very odd.  I understand that a decision has been made to move them a very short distance - something like 3 metres.

Sunset

A beautiful walk along the beach was just what was needed to get rid of the excess calories eaten at the delicious restaurant yesterday.  As you can see it's a beautiful evening and there is hardly anyone around.  A  beautiful evening finished with a gorgeous sunset.  Awesome!

Happy Birthday!

Apologies for the delay since my last post - I've been too busy enjoying life and seeing this beatuiful country.

We went to a beautiful itialian restaurant Chianti, for a friend's birthday.  The food was exquisite and the company was awesome! Not the cheapest meal out but delicious and worth every penny for such a special occasion.

Happy New Year!!!!

Wow!!!!  What a FANTASTIC New Year's Eve we had!  I was lucky enough to be invited on this private cruiser (worth a cool $4 million) for the night.  We had a captain on board and a lovely lady to serve our food and drinks.

The boat had 4 bedrooms and at least as many bathrooms.  It was like something out of the Milk Tray adverts we used to get on UK TV.

The boat was moored just off Glenelg Jetty where the fireworks were so we were really close!

Some random men swam up to the boat and tried to get on but the captain wouldn't let them on so they had to swim back to shore.  Hope they didn't get eaten by sharks!

After the fireworks, we were taken all the way down the coast, we tried to spot places we knew.

We danced and sang until we had to head back to shore for a 3am pick up from a mini-bus.  An awesome night with awesome people, great food and wine as well as a couple of bottles of moet at midnight.
